TCC marches into QFs with a convincing 5-wkt victory over RCC

TCC handed a 5-wkt defeat to RCC at Shiloh on Saturday at Shiloh Park. We would like to thank NCSU for officiating in the match and Prashant in particular for discharging the 12th man duties with aplomb.

Samay won the toss and decided to bat. The temperatures had dropped a wee bit this past weekend and we had no complaints. Needless to say, with a 3-week hiatus since our last competitive match, we were a little anxious. Aravind and Anand allayed all those fears and bowled beautifully to peg RCC back. The pressure got to them, Shibu pouched a smart catch to dismiss Parth off Anand and that started the slide. The other TCC bowlers kept the hammer down making run-scoring difficult for the RCC batters. Samay survived a few close calls and edges landed in no man's land quite a few times. He tried to play the lone hand for RCC. Our bowlers never let them off the hook and obliged by playing the waiting game. Uchil bamboozled the opposition and was virtually unplayable. He bagged his first five-for of the season with magical figures of 5-2-10-5! The entire team fielded brilliantly to support our bowlers with Aravind's catch to dismiss Snehal begging a mention.

Given the way Anand and Uchil went about the chase, they seemed to be in a hurry to eat their lunch. Man, we are hooked to those falafels! 50 runs came in no time with both batters scoring freely. Uchil got undone by a ball that kept low, but Muki and Anand carried on merrily with a safety-first approach. Their shot-making was a delight to watch. We lost a couple of quick wickets, however, Aravind and Sundar took us past the finish line without further ado. Team, let’s maintain the same level of commitment going forward. Go TCC!!
