TCC chases NCSU's 188 in clinical fashion
TCC defeated NCSU by 5 wickets in convincing fashion at Shiloh on Saturday. Fergus Robertson and Sarvesh Akella did a fantastic job of umpiring under hot and humid conditions and TCC would like to thank them for the same.
Rajesh lost the toss and NCSU decided to bat without any hesitation. The openers took a liking to the TCC opening bowling attack. Raj was severe on anything pitched on middle and leg, dragging or pulling the pull toward cow corner. We seemed lost in the woods (of course in finding the ball too). TCC regrouped after the first drinks break with the score reading 114 for no loss after 14 overs. Arun, Uchil, Sundar and Anand bowled beautifully in tandem, making it harder to score runs and gave us vital breakthroughs as well. Rajesh A. bowled towards the end and finished up with figures of 4/13 and on a hatrick going into the next match. We cleaned up NCSU for 188 with Raj being the top-scorer with good support from Kartik. Our fielding was a revelation (Muki and Vijay warrant a mention) except for the odd blemish.
Uchil and Anand gave us a breezy start with 25 runs in a couple of overs. Uchil holed out, but Muki and Anand made run-scoring look easy continuing their good run this season. Even though we lost 5 wickets chasing 188, rotating strike constantly and building partnerships was the key. With cameos from the earlier batsmen, Vijay and Rajesh U. wrapped up the win with a crucial unbeaten 43-run partnership towards the end. NCSU looked to be a different outfit than what we earlier this season. They bowled and fielded well. It was good to see a healthy camaraderie between the two teams amidst the competitive spirit.
Go TCC!
