GH @ TCC
TCC Season 2002, Game #8
Shiloh Park, Morrisville, NC
30 June 2002 (30-over match)
Result: TCC won by 242 runs
Toss: TCC (Elected to Bat)
Umpires: Bakul & Vinay (RCC)
Man of the Match: Ravi Renga (TCC)
TCC hosted GH at Sunday June 30th, 2002 Shiloh Park. GH has not had a
great season so far. So when TCC won the toss, Aravind promptly decided
to bat in a move to bolster the net run rate. Aravind's decision was justified with both the openers Vijay and Ravi
settling down to play exciting shots. Vijay was pretty severe on the GH
bowlers and had scored 61 (of 41 balls) when he was hit on the head trying
to swat a wayward beamer. Although he felt ok it was decided the best course
of action was to get him to an ER for a checkup that confirmed that there
were nothing that a few Tylenols could not fix. Samir made a quick 26 before being caught in the deep. Ravi meanwhile
was going from strength to strength with Aravind keeping him company before
he tried to slog Gaurang and was taken by Majid at deep long off for a well
made 94. Syed was bowled of the first ball he faced trying to play an attacking
shot but Rajesh Uppalapati and Aravind kept the scoring going by playing
some aggressive cricket to set up a huge target of 296. GH kept losing wickets right from the word go even though it looked like
they just wanted to get some batting practice rather than chase the TCC
score. Rajeev Kalyan generated some good pace and movement while VT bowling
his leg spinners turned out to be more than a handful. In the end GH were
dismissed for 54 to give TCC a huge victory margin of 242 that might well
be a record in the league. Thanks for Vinay Minhas and Bakul Naik of RCC for doing a great job umpiring
the game on what turned out to be a pretty hot day.
